MEET DAVID

LEADERSHIP: DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

David Tatman is a Christian.  He’s a husband, a father, a businessman, a volunteer, and a public servant.

He grew up in South Louisiana and graduated from Nicholls State University with a degree in Business.  While there, he was a member of the NSU Student Senate and a Chapter Officer of his fraternity.

He founded the Tatman Group in 1997 and has grown it into one of the state’s leading Association Management and Governmental Relations firms.  In that capacity, he has assumed the role of Executive Director for such prestigious organizations as the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association, Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association, Louisiana Gas Association, Louisiana Funeral Directors, State Farm Agents

and Associates, and more.

In 2001, he was listed in the Baton Rouge Business Report’s “Top 40 Under 40” group of young leaders and in 2015 he was again named in the publication’s “People to Watch” section highlighting successful business and public sector leaders. He has accepted leadership roles as a member of the Republican State Central Committee and the Parish Executive Committee.

David Tatman is a man of many talents.  He’s branched out into the motion picture industry as an actor, filmmaker, and partner in OffScript Productions, a Louisiana-based film production company. OffScript Productions specializes in various types of film and video production, including television ads, education videos, and corporate videos.

After an impressive list of volunteer positions with the Boy Scouts of America, Children’s Hospital, and youth basketball coach, David sought and was elected to the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board in 2011.  He was elected President of the Board in 2013 & 2014. As Board President, David led an effort to reduce the size of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board from 11 members to 9 members. The effort was successful and as a part of the reapportionment, David was elected to the newly formed District 9 for a second term without opposition in 2014. He was then elected as President of the Board in 2015 and again in January of 2018.

David was reelected for a third term to the School Board in January of 2020 and was once again selected as President by his colleagues in 2020, 2021, and continues as the current president of the Board.

Despite his many talents, David remains grounded by love of family and commitment to public service. He is married to Maria Battaglia Tatman who is a retired educator with 33 years of classroom knowledge and experience.  Together, they have three children, Carley Angela Tatman, Morgan Elizabeth Tatman, and David Mark Tatman, Jr. Maria and David live in Baton Rouge and are members of the St. George Catholic Church Community.
